Pilot Projects
Renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) applications in Lebanon, as elsewhere around the world, require constant research and development (R&D) to increase their applicability, performance (efficiency), cost, and potential to be integrated into the national grid. CEDRO works on two fronts concerning R&D of RE and EE applications;
· The first level is documenting the energy performance and applying cost-benefit analysis of the variously installed RE/EE applications in order that (1) better information be provided as to the viability of these projects in Lebanon, and in order that (2) required actions to further encourage the adoption of these systems (i.e., enhancing their viability) be identified. Data and/or information is gathered first-hand through the many data loggers installed on most of the RE CEDRO applications.
· The second R&D level takes a more macro outlook and focuses on assisting in formulating the national sustainable energy strategy of Lebanon. To this end, for example, CEDRO is focusing on providing the necessary research into wind potential, solar potential, and bioenergy potential of Lebanon, including pathways to utilize that potential.
